What We Do

A few words about

What We Do

our works

At Pad-Up Africa, our work is built around education, advocacy, access, dignity, and sustainable menstrual health solutions.

We are committed to ending period poverty and breaking the silence around menstruation by reaching girls, women, schools, rural communities, IDP camps, and underserved populations with the knowledge, products, and support they need to manage their periods safely and confidently.<br>

For us, menstrual health is not just about pads.
It is about education, confidence, hygiene, dignity, safety, and equal opportunity.

Menstrual Health Education

Through our school and community sessions, we teach topics such as:

  • Understanding menstruation
  • Menstrual hygiene management
  • Body confidence and puberty education
  • Menstrual pain and self-care
  • Myths and misconceptions about periods
  • Safe disposal of menstrual products
  • Supporting girls during menstruation

Our goal is to ensure that every girl understands her body, manages her period with confidence, and never feels ashamed of a natural biological process.

Advocacy Against Period Poverty

Through campaigns, media engagement, stakeholder conversations, school programs, and public awareness initiatives, we continue to speak up about the challenges girls and women face due to lack of access to menstrual products.

Our advocacy focuses on:

  • Ending period poverty
  • Promoting menstrual dignity
  • Encouraging pad banks in schools
  • Engaging policymakers and stakeholders
  • Challenging menstrual stigma
  • Promoting menstrual health as a public health issue

We believe no girl should miss school, lose confidence, or feel excluded because she cannot afford a pad.

Sensitization in Schools and Communities

These sessions create safe spaces where girls can ask questions, boys can learn empathy, women can share experiences, and communities can challenge harmful beliefs.

Our sensitization work helps to:

  • Break silence around menstruation
  • Reduce shame and stigma
  • Encourage better hygiene practices
  • Build confidence among girls
  • Promote community support for menstrual dignity

We do not only speak to girls.
We engage the entire community because period stigma is a community issue.

Reusable Pad Production Training

This training provides a sustainable solution to period poverty, especially in communities where disposable pads may not always be affordable or accessible.

Through reusable pad training, we help women and girls:

  • Learn practical hygiene skills
  • Reduce dependency on disposable pads
  • Manage menstruation more sustainably
  • Gain knowledge that can support livelihood opportunities
  • Build confidence around menstrual care

This is one of our major empowerment approaches because it moves beyond donation into sustainability.

Why We Do This Work

We do this because menstruation should never be a barrier to education, confidence, health, or dignity.

Every girl deserves to sit in class without fear.
Every woman deserves to manage her period safely.
Every school should have hygiene support.
Every community should understand that menstruation is normal.
Every society should treat menstrual health as a basic necessity.

At Pad-Up Africa, we are not just distributing pads.
We are restoring dignity, changing mindsets, building awareness, and creating a future where no girl is held back by her period.
